Do you think everyone remembers their wedding? Of course they are going to remember, but special occasions can be relived more vividly
by gazing at photographs taken during that time. Most of us cringe at the thought of a photographer taking our pictures, but they present
us with an everlasting gift. They capture an amazing time in our lives to be experienced over and over again.
Wedding pictures are priceless. That is why you must make sure you hire a wedding photographer who is worthy of the job.
There are mainly two styles of wedding photography: traditional and photojournalistic.
Traditional photography denotes the shots that you would be familiar with when looking at older wedding photos. These contain shots of
the bride coming down the aisle, shots of the bride and groom at the altar, shots of the bride and groom feeding cake to one another, etc.
The latter takes more of a candid approach. These could consist of shots taken as the day unfolds, where people may or may not be posing
for the photo. The wedding photographer will try to capture the essence of the day through shots taken.
It is up to you how you would like your day recorded. Many people enjoy having a mixture of both. Traditional photos can be used in
frames, while other, candid photos can be kept in an album or CD to be viewed at will.
- Are you the photographer that will work my wedding, or are you a representative of the company and another wedding photographer is actually going to take the photos?
- Can I see some of your work from at least three different weddings?
- Will you provide both color and black/white pictures, or is there a separate charge?
- What timeframe does the charge cover? Will you be available all day, or are you charging extra after a certain period of time?
- Will you be working with someone else? Would there be an extra charge if I would like two wedding photographers present?
- Do you use a film based or digital camera?
- If the reception is far from the place of the ceremony, do you charge a traveling fee?
- Will there be a separate charge per location?
- Do you offer a Web site or a CD that contains my wedding photos? If so, is there a separate charge for this?
- Would you be willing to work with me if any of your packages are outside of my budget? Do you do customized packaging?
There are advantages and disadvantages in using either wedding photographer. Consider the following information:
- Fulltime photographers are obviously passionate enough about what they do to make it a fulltime profession, but that can mean they are difficult to book and may be more expensive.
- Part time photographers may lack some experience, but not the passion. Just because something is not a fulltime job does not mean the craftsperson lacking in expertise.
- Fulltime photographers may have access to more equipment and can therefore offer more packages and options.
- Part time wedding photographers may not have as many clients booked, so they can be more flexible with their time. In addition, the person you meet will most likely be the one taking the pictures on your wedding day.
In closing, the synergy between the couple and the photographer may be more important than the amount of time the wedding photographer
designates to their craft. Choose someone who you feel is going to be the best at capturing the memories of your special day.
