Wedding Tips: Planning the Wedding Shower

The bridal shower is a rite of passage involved in the wedding process. It is a time for the bride to gather with close friends and family, share laughs, and accumulate a trousseau.

If you have never been a part of a wedding shower before, then you may benefit from some suggestions on the topic. Consider the following information.

Wedding Tip #1 - Females only?

Wedding showers have traditionally been orchestrated for the bride-to-be. Recent times have seen a more liberal view of the event. Brides and grooms are having transgender parties. This decision resides with you. It is your wedding; would you like to keep close to tradition or break free from stale customs?

Wedding Tip #2 - And the host with most is?

Formerly, it has been common for members of the bridal party to assemble the bridal shower. Today, there is less emphasis on ritual, and more focus placed on the success of the celebration. It should not matter if the shower is arranged by one or fifty friends, or if it is held at a restaurant or family member's house. The important matter is that the bride (and groom?) enjoy this time with family and friends.

Wedding Tip #3 - When is this extravaganza?

The bride must deal with a busy schedule as time winds down towards the wedding day. It is suggested to throw the shower sometime between four and six weeks before the big day. This gives all those involved enough time to prepare. Most likely, many of the guests work during the week; it may be best to schedule the shower sometime between Friday evening and Sunday brunch.

Wedding Tip #4 - Who's in with the in-crowd?

The key to a bridal shower is inviting a manageable number of people. The headcount may also be contingent on the size of the venue, length of shower, and activities planned. As a shaky rule, think about ten to twenty people being manageable.

Wedding Tip #5 - Invitations?

Expensive shower invitations are not necessary. You can find programs on your computer that help print invitation cards. In addition, there are other avenues to explore on the Web. For instance, the Evite site lets you send a virtual invitation to all invites. Invites can respond, correspond, and offer suggestions for the party.

Wedding Tip #6 - It's in the theme

It may be easier to plan and accessorize for the bridal shower after a theme has been introduced. The theme can dictate the location of the shower, the gifts, invitations, party favors, etc. The theme could emulate that of the wedding or the style of the couple.
