Choosing the Perfect Florist

There are so many florists that claim to be the best at what they do. The most important thing to do when you are consulting with different florists is to witness their work. Make sure you visit their store and meet with them in-person instead of phone calls and emails. Florists can be considered "artists" with how they put together their "works of art". That's why it is so important to make sure you go and see the shop and take note of how they decorate their store. Just like a job interview, you can capture an image of their quality of work just by that initial reaction to the appearance of their product; in this case, how they set up their store.

In addition to checking out their shop, it is important to check out work that they actually do at weddings. Typically, florists set up the reception site a good 1-3 hours before the reception is planned to start. A good (and confident) florist will have no problem letting you know where they will be and when. All you want to do is check out their work and see what kind of quality they put forth. Don't be afraid to ask them "do you mind if we take a quick glance at the room?" A good florist should be able to offer that without any problems.

Don't fall for the tricks! Some florists will push you to "make your deposit today" to receive a percentage off, or a free bouquet. They may even go as far as to say "if you book with me today, I'll set up your exact table at the next local bridal show". Don't fall for these tricks before you see they work! The florist is not out to impress you and your family at a bridal show where several hundred potential clients walk through, so don't be surprised to walk in to the next show looking for your table set-up and not find it!

Florists can be considered artists, and each artist presents the image differently. At the end of the day, you want a florist that fits your exact type of style.
