Ten Ways to Make Your Wedding Personal
You have spent the last year or so perusing through magazines, boutiques, and the ideas of others. It seems as if everyone has a vision
of how to make your wedding more special. Two heads may be better than one, but the memories of your wedding are going to be most vivid
in yours.
Create ways to individualize your wedding. Consider the ideas of others; but, sculpt them into something of your own. This is not going
to be any wedding; it is going to be your wedding.
Place some particular items in your bouquet that characterize you. For instance, place birthstones, lucky charms, a relic from a deceased
family member, etc. Florists can design numbers of various bouquets, but implementing personal items makes the bouquet especially unique.
Cocktail hours usually consist of guests sipping drinks at the reception site before the bride and groom arrive. In addition to supplying
drinks, think about offering other entertainment. Consider hosting caricature artists, magicians, henna tattooists, palm readers, etc.
Consider having guests light individual candles at the altar before the ceremony. The candles should make for a beautiful backdrop to the
ceremony. This way, all guests feel as if they have participated in a personal way.
It may be a unique idea to feature photos and other keepsakes from the wedding days of family members. The bride and groom can display
photos, invitations, dresses, etc. from other ceremonies. This adds distinction to your day, and enables other family members to unite
their special day with yours.
Have your DJ prerecord songs they will play at your wedding. Hand them out to valets at the end of the reception. Have the valets place
the CDs in the stereos of the guests. As the guests are driving off, they can hear songs from your wedding along with a personal thank you
message from you.
Most wedding magazines and planners, focus on what trends are currently popular. What if you are fond of styles that are presently out of
vogue? You could transform the ambience of your wedding to look like something out of the early twentieth century, or maybe you have a
vision of what the wedding of the future may look like. Don't be too stuck in the present to experiment with an antiquarian or futuristic
motif.
Love begins anew and flourishes after the wedding. Give your guests something new as well. Think about presenting potted flowers as
wedding gifts. As your life as a couple grows strong, so will the memento from your wedding day.
Rather than name by number, think of a unique appellation for each table. Make it a silly, nonsense word or a descriptive adjective. It
could be a good icebreaker and a cause for smiles amongst the guests.
Many couples like to incorporate something about them in their wedding decorations. For instance, some include symbols of sports teams,
hobbies, locations, etc. into their decor. This unifies the scenery with the personality of the couple.
A wedding does not have to be a one-day event. Depending on budgets, availability of resources, the length of time guests are in town,
etc. you can make your wedding celebration into a larger event. Think about involving guests in recreational activities, bringing them
to a show, or supplementing the main wedding with additional
