Ten Wedding Detail Ideas

Many weddings share commonalities. Gowns, cakes, bands, bouquets, etc. are present during a host of wedding days. Couples individualize their weddings by implementing details wherever possible. The wedding is in the details; check out ten detail ideas that can make your wedding exceptional and individual.

Wedding Tip #1 - Make a grand entrance

Personalize the entryway into the service. From the first impression, let your guests know that you have considered every detail to enhance the special day. Combine your wedding theme, personality, season, etc. in order to make an initial impact.

Wedding Tip #2 - Lead the way

Make it very easy for guests to find all the locations included in your wedding day celebration. Print a map to include with the invitations or email a link to online directions. Some people may be from out of town, and others may be reluctant to ask for directions; do not make it difficult for your guests to navigate around your wedding day.

Wedding Tip #3 - Please take a seat

Display unique seating cards. Themes for cards can be dictated per table or per person. Use wedding colors, themes, inside jokes, seasonal objects, etc. to orchestrate the cards.

Wedding Tip #4 - Not just any guest book

Guest books make fine mementos. Guests do not always make it a point to sign the book. Introducing an alternative to the traditional guest book may inspire more guests to participate in the signing. Think about taking photos or video footage of guests' sentiments rather than have them pen their names in a book.

Wedding Tip #5 - Wedding lights

Get creative with the lighting. Different lighting can make the ambience appear more flattering. In addition, think about using candles, chandeliers, lanterns, lamps, etc. to complement existing light.

Wedding Tip #6 - Kids will be kids

We have all been their age. It is not so easy to be in formal clothing, without toys, and young enough to not be able to sit still for a few minutes. Give the kids, their parents, and yourself a break. Think of alternatives for children during your wedding day. For instance, ushers can issue coloring books with crayons during the ceremony; you can seat the children with their parents during dinner; and have a room with a DVD player accessible during the reception.

Wedding Tip #7 - Libations

It is not uncommon for guests to spend some time at the bar. Incorporate the bar and drinks into the wedding. Add flowers and themed objects atop of the bar, in addition, ask the bartender to make drinks using your wedding colors.

Wedding Tip #8 - Dessert display

The table setting may take away from the allure of the desserts. Downplay the table cloth and surrounding dressings; and, intensify the look of your wedding cake and other desserts by implementing flowers, monograms, and other instruments of augmentation.

Wedding Tip #9 - Not just for sitting

Chairs are often overlooked as parts of the grand design. Chairs can add to the beauty of the room with help from fabrics and flowers. For instance, add a sash to the back of each chair or affix a seasonal flower display to every seat.

Wedding Tip #10 - All's well

You have spent the last six months to a year planning your wedding. Were you planning on going gently into that goodnight? Close your wedding day memorably. Think about incorporating fireworks; closing with a toast from the both of you; or leaving the reception site from a helicopter.
